About the show

About

In a landmark theatrical event, two-time Academy Award® winner George Clooney makes his Broadway debut in _Good Night, and Good Luck_, an electrifying stage adaptation of the critically acclaimed film.  Tune in to the golden age of broadcast journalism and Edward R. Murrow’s (Clooney) legendary, history-altering, on-air showdown with Senator Joseph McCarthy. As McCarthyism casts a shadow over America, Murrow and his news team choose to confront the growing tide of paranoia and propaganda, even if it means turning the federal government and a worried nation against them.  Under the direction of Tony Award®-winner David Cromer, from the original screenwriters Clooney and Grant Heslov, _Good Night, and Good Luck_ chronicles a time in American history when truth and journalistic integrity stood up to fearmongering and disinformation—and won. This strictly limited engagement begins performances March 2025.

Winter Garden Theatre

The Winter Garden Theatre is a historic Broadway venue renowned for its spacious design and rich history. Originally built in 1896 as the American Horse Exchange by William K. Vanderbilt, the building was converted into a theatre in 1911 by the Shubert brothers, with architect William Albert Swasey overseeing the transformation. The theatre features a wide auditorium with a single balcony, bringing the audience closer to the stage, and was originally decorated with a garden motif, including a sky-blue ceiling and latticework. In 1922, architect Herbert J. Krapp redesigned the interior, adding elegant ornamentation and bringing the theatre more in line with the traditional Adamesque style used in other Shubert venues. With a seating capacity of approximately 1,600, the Winter Garden Theatre has hosted numerous acclaimed productions, contributing to its enduring status in New York City's vibrant theatre scene.
