About the show

About

_“The first thing you should know is that this is true. It’s what actually happened._ _I know it seems like it’s a story – inside of a story – inside of a story. But that’s how it is for most people. At least the ones in here.”_
Nick’s got a story to tell you. About how a routine traffic stop turned into a conviction for murder. About how he spent the next 22 years on death row. About how he finally petitioned the court to ask not for an appeal—but for his execution date. And about what happened next…
After an acclaimed run in London, two-time Academy Award® winner **Adrien Brody** makes his Broadway debut alongside Golden Globe and Emmy® Award nominee **Tessa Thompson** in an “unmissable portrait of death row injustice” (_The Telegraph_). Nominated for Best New Play at the Olivier Awards, with Brody also earning a nomination for Best Actor, **THE FEAR OF 13** is based on the extraordinary true story of Nick Yarris. Written by **Lindsey Ferrentino** (_Ugly Lies the Bone_) and directed by Tony Award winner **David Cromer** (_Good Night, and Good Luck_), this gripping exploration of truth, justice, and the chasm between them will leave you hanging on every word.

James Earl Jones Theatre

The James Earl Jones Theatre, formerly known as the Cort Theatre, is a historic Broadway venue that opened in 1912. Designed by architect Thomas W. Lamb, the theatre's facade was inspired by the Petit Trianon at Versailles, featuring a three-story, marble-faced Corinthian colonnade—a distinctive feature among Broadway theatres. The interior boasts significant architectural elements, including plaster cameos, a mural, and a unique proscenium arch adorned with plasterwork and art glass. In 2022, the theatre was renamed to honor the celebrated actor James Earl Jones, who made his Broadway debut at this venue in 1958. With a seating capacity of approximately 1,092, the James Earl Jones Theatre continues to host a variety of acclaimed productions, contributing to its enduring legacy in New York City's vibrant theatre scene.
